New Zealand Tides ("the App") is a mobile application available on iOS and Android, developed by Prashanth Hannikeri ("we", "us", or "our"). The App provides tide forecast information for locations around New Zealand.

The App does not require you to create an account or log in. We do not collect, process, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Name, email address, or contact details
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data (the App uses a manual location picker)
- Usage analytics or crash reports
- Payment or financial information of any kind
3. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
The App offers an optional paid subscription to unlock premium features. All purchases and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple (on iOS) or Google (on Android) through their respective app stores. We do not process, receive, or store any payment information.

4. Data Stored on Your Device
Some preferences — such as your bookmarked locations and app settings — may be saved locally on your device using standard platform storage mechanisms (e.g., UserDefaults on iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
5. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or social media SDKs. No data is shared with any third party.
6. Children's Privacy
Because we do not collect any personal information from any users, the App is safe for use by people of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 in applicable jurisdictions).

If we ever change our data practices, we will update this Privacy Policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the New Zealand Tides mobile application ("the App"), developed by Prashanth Hannikeri. By installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Nature of the Service
New Zealand Tides provides tide forecast information for locations around New Zealand based on predictive tidal data. The App is intended for general informational and recreational purposes only.
3. Disclaimer — Not for Safety-Critical Use
⚠️ Important: Tide predictions are mathematical forecasts and may not reflect actual conditions due to weather, storms, atmospheric pressure, local geography, or other factors. Do not rely solely on this App for navigation, maritime operations, commercial fishing, diving, or any activity where inaccurate tidal information could result in injury, loss of life, or property damage. Always consult official sources such as MetService and check current weather and sea conditions before any ocean activity.
4. Subscription and Payments
The App offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription. Subscriptions are managed through the respective app store for your platform.
Subscriptions are offered through Apple's In-App Purchase system and are subject to Apple's Terms and Conditions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
Subscriptions are offered through Google Play's In-App Purchase system and are subject to Google Play's Terms of Service. Payment is charged to your Google account at confirmation of purchase. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Google Play account settings.
For both platforms:
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods, in accordance with the respective platform's policies.
5. Intellectual Property
All content, code, design, graphics, and data within the App are owned by Prashanth Hannikeri or licensed to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our express written consent.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to extract or scrape the tide data for commercial use without permission
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or reliance on the App, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or financial loss.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a revised "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
